You should be as afraid of him as I am.
I gotta say, Bane was not as bad ass as I wanted him to be.
He was huge, intelligent, athletic, and crushed peoples faces with his bare hands… yes, that was bad ass.
The voice, definitely threw me off though. He kind of sounded like an English professor with a bad British accent, and I just wasn’t digging it.
His back story, once revealed humanized him and that made me appreciate him. Up until that point, I didn’t really care for him.
He’s fuckin’ BANE. We are supposed to believe that he was Kicked Out of The League of Shadows (League of Assassins) because of his evilness, but frankly, they just didn’t sell it in the film.
The movie was amazing, and far better than The Dark Knight in my opinion. However, Bane could have been so much more. I’m disappointed, Mr. Nolan.
(I did appreciate the back-breaking scene, though.)
I grew to accept the voice by the end of the movie, it suited the new characterization of him pretty well, but I still miss the Santa Prisca accent. And the Santa Prisca everything, really.
